I'll let you in on a little secret. I didn't grow up wanting to become a granola baker. It wasn't even on my radar as a career choice until a little over a year ago, when life circumstances required me to come up with an additional source of income.
That doesn't mean I don't love baking granola because I do, yet this was a career that found me versus a career that I sought to find on my own.
I've had a number of careers in my lifetime, from yoga instructor (I still teach yoga and love it!) to writer, to these days, granola baker, and if you look at them from afar, they seem varied and unrelated to each other. If you look at them closely, you'll see that they all have something in common with each other in that each career I've had a passion for allows me to connect with other people, As a yoga teacher, I connect with my students, as a writer, I've connected with my readers. As a granola baker, I get to connect with my customers, even those of you who I have never met in person who have ordered Hippie Chick via my web store.
We are all here to connect with each other, to love one another. and to support one another. Yoga has taught me that we are all more alike than we are different, no matter what our "externals" may look like.
A while back when I was deeply involved with my personal blog, I had this beautiful opportunity to connect with other bloggers who live not only around the country, but around the world. I'm not exactly certain when or how I met Alison, but Alison is a friend who lives in Malaysia, who I have never met in person, yet who has been incredibly supportive of my business. Case in point: Alison figured out a way to get her hands on Hippie Chick Granola, even though I don't ship outside of the United States. Knowing Alison reminds me that we don't have to be in the same room with someone to be in the same room with someone. There are ways to show up for people, even if you don't live in their neighborhood.
Alison recently suggested to me that I try a granola blend that used coconut and pineapple. It has been a hit since it went into Beta and I am so excited to share the newest Hippie Chick with the world today.
